About me
Dr. Carlena Benjamin is the Instructional Technology Specialist at Northeast Mississippi Community College, where she collaborates with faculty and students to effectively incorporate technology into teaching and learning. She embraces the belief that everyone has a unique learning style and that innovative tools like iPad can empower teachers and students alike, enabling them to explore creativity through personalized, engaging educational experiences. Driven by a deep passion for education, Dr. Benjamin also teaches biology courses at Northeast, integrating her instructional background with educational technology.
In 2019, Dr. Benjamin was honored as the Instructor of the Year by MS Virtual Community College and named an Apple Distinguished Educator by Apple Education. She was further recognized in 2020 as the College Biology Instructor of the Year by the Mississippi Science Teachers Association and achieved certification as an Apple Learning Coach in 2022. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Dr. Benjamin continues to connect with educators worldwide, committed to advancing teaching and learning through innovation and collaboration.
