The Mobile Learning Conference began in 2009 as a small, local workshop on the Booneville, MS campus. Its founder, Jeffrey Powell, envisioned bringing educators together through a shared passion for technology. As an Apple Distinguished Educator (Class of 2013), Jeffrey was deeply committed to exploring innovative ways to integrate technology into education. Thanks to his dedication, the conference grew from a regional workshop into an internationally recognized virtual event.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a shift to a virtual format, transforming Mobile Learning into a global conference almost overnight. Tragically, Jeffrey Powell passed away later that year. To honor his legacy, Northeast renamed the event the Jeffrey Powell Mobile Learning Conference, ensuring his vision lives on. Now in its 16th year, the conference continues to thrive, welcoming educators and presenters from across the U.S. and beyond.
